“life is not easy for any of us. but what of that? we must have perseverance and, above all, confidence in ourselves. we must believe that we are gifted for something and that this thing must be attained.” - marie curie
there was a middle-aged lady on the streetcar today talking to herself. she was undoubtedly ill. not only was anger found in her words but her gestures as well. from what i could gather, she was recalling multiple hurtful events that happened in her life. the way she spit them out led me to believe she never had the chance to convey herself. all everyone could do was to look on and pretend there wasn’t somebody in this very streetcar who was tormented.
the five-minute ride with her caused me to believe how fragile our minds could be. it made me question whether i would lose control if i had gone through what she had. scary.
“a born worrier is, after all, only a few letters off from being a born warrior. worry is my way of caring about the people around me, my way of celebrating even the most mundane aspects of my life, my way of being present and poised and ready for anything.” - Buffy Cram in the May 2012 issue of Elle Canada
